Examples:
US 6 → start with 38 chains
US 7–8 → start with 40 chains (pattern base)
US 9 → start with 42 chains
US 10 → start with 44 chains

For extra width, add 1 shaping round to the sole before starting the color striping.

🟥 Upper (Linen Stitch Texture)

Hook: 3.5 mm
Attach red to Round 8.

Linen stitch logic:
• sc in stitch or ch-space
• ch1
• skip next stitch

Work this repeat around.
Join each round with sl st.

Continue linen rounds until the upper reaches just below the ankle bone.
This is typically 9–10 rounds depending on gauge.

⬆️ Heel Height

Work 1–2 additional linen rounds only across the back half of the shoe.
At both ends of the round section, decrease a small number of stitches to taper the height toward the front.

This creates a subtle slope at the heel and a natural rise behind the ankle.

⚪ Eyelet Rings

White, 3.5 mm hook

Each ring:
MR
10 sc into ring
Tighten
FO with long tail

Sew rings only along the forward side panels.
Use 4 rings per side (8 total per shoe).
Anchor with tiny stitches so the rings remain perfectly round.

Space the rings evenly from toe area up toward the collar.

🤍 Scalloped Collar

Attach white to the final linen round.

Repeat sequence around:
(skip 1, 6 dc in next stitch, skip 1, sl st in next)

Keep shells full and rounded.
If desired, lightly reinforce by working sc between scallops only.

⚪ Toe Cap

White, 3.5 mm

R1: MR, 6 sc
R2: inc×6 (12)
R3: (sc,inc)×6 (18)
R4: (2sc,inc)×6 (24)
R5: (3sc,inc)×6 (30)
R6: (4sc,inc)×6 (36)
R7: (5sc,inc)×6 (42)
R8: sc around

If your gauge runs tight, add one more round of sc (R9).
Sew toe cap neatly where it meets the first white stripe at the sole.

⚫ Black Outline at Toe

With black yarn, work 1 full round of tight sc along the seam where toe cap and upper join.

Keep the path smooth and consistently curved.

🍃 Holly Leaves (Serrated Shape)

Green, 3.5 mm
Make 2 leaves per shoe.

ch 11
Along chain:
sl st, sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc, sl st

Turn and work back along the outer edge in the same path.

Add two tiny picots (one near the center, one at the tip) to form pointed serration.

Optional:
Light stitched vertical vein lines in darker green.

Placement:
Sew leaves on the outer side only.
Position between second and third eyelet.
Angle downward slightly.

🔴 Berries

Red
Make 3 per shoe

R1: MR, 6 sc
R2: inc×6 (12)
R3: sc around
R4: dec×6 (6)

Stuff lightly and close.
Cluster the berries at the leaf base.

🎀 Lacing

Thread red satin ribbon beginning near the toe and crisscross upward through all eyelets.
Tie a generous bow at the top.
Trim ends and seal if needed.

🧷 Final Finishing

Check alignment of stripes, toe cap, rings, leaves, and collar.
Steam block lightly if desired to soften curves and smooth the linen texture.

Slip them on, tie the bows, and enjoy a perfectly festive pair of crochet sneakers.

❄️ Celebration Notes

These slippers bring all the charm of classic holiday décor into something wearable and wonderfully cozy. The textured weave, bold toe contrast, rounded eyelets, and cheerful holly detail make them joyful to craft and even more delightful to gift. Wrap your feet in soft stitches, curl up by the fireplace, and enjoy every step of handmade winter magic.
