  • 6.5 mm–8 mm crochet hook

🧵 Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR – Magic Ring
sc – Single Crochet
inc – Increase (2 sc in same stitch)
dec – Decrease (sc 2 together)

🌀 Main Round Rug Base (Work in Spiral)

With pink yarn (light):

  1. MR, 6 sc
  2. inc x6 (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc) x6 (18)
  4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
  5. (3 sc, inc) x6 (30)

    Continue increasing evenly (by +6 per row) until the rug reaches approx. 80 cm.

➡️ When halfway through, switch colors at strategic rounds to form the background gradient:

  • Rounds 1–30: light pink
  • Rounds 31–40: mid pink
  • Rounds 41–50: dark pink / border section

Work flat or in the round and stitch onto the base:


👧 Head – White Yarn

  1. MR, 6 sc
  2. inc x6 (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc) x6 (18)

    Increase to approx. 60 sts per round (~20–22 rounds)

Use black yarn for outline border using surface slip stitch or single crochet edging worked around in black.


👀 Eyes & Nose – Small Ovals

  • Eyes (black):
    1. Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch, 3 sc in last, rotate, sc back → oval
    2. FO, stitch onto face.
  • Nose (yellow):
    Same as eyes but smaller – use ch 2 or a simple circle (MR, 6 sc)

🎀 Bow (Red)

Make 2 semicircles:

  1. MR, 6 sc
  2. inc x6 (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc) x6 (18)
    ➡️ FO. Sew together at center with long tail, wrap yarn around to pinch.

Place above left ear. Stitch down.


👗 Dress – Pink & Yellow

With pink:

  • Create trapezoid shape by chaining ~12 and increasing width each row by 1–2 sts
  • Yellow section = under collar
  • Black outline around whole dress

🧤 Arms & Legs

Arms: Half-oval shaped appliqués in white and black outlines
Legs: Use two short stumpy white ovals with black outline


🖤 Outline Everything

Use black yarn and either:

  • Surface slip stitch
  • Or sew black sc border separately and attach

🎀 Bow Border

For each bow:

With chosen yarn color (red/pink/yellow/white):

  1. MR, 6 sc

➡️ Attach around rug border spaced ~5–6 cm apart.


📌 Assembly

  1. Stitch center Hello Kitty design onto the middle of the base using invisible stitch or whip stitch
  2. Sew on bows around the perimeter
  3. Optional: Add non-slip grip backing for safety
