🔤 Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR = Magic Ring

dec = decrease (sc2tog)
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
FLO = front loop only
BLO = back loop only
FO = fasten off

🟣 Head & Body (One Piece)

With Light Lavender:

R1: MR, 6 sc (6)
R2: inc ×6 (12)
R3: (1 sc, inc) ×6 (18)
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 (24)
R5: (3 sc, inc) ×6 (30)
R6: (4 sc, inc) ×6 (36)
R7: (5 sc, inc) ×6 (42)
R8–18: sc around (42)
📍(The rounded top and tall dome match the plush’s proportional head height.)

R19: (5 sc, dec) ×6 (36)
R20: (4 sc, dec) ×6 (30)
R21: (3 sc, dec) ×6 (24)
Stuff firmly and evenly.
R22: (2 sc, dec) ×6 (18)
R23: (1 sc, dec) ×6 (12)
R24: dec ×6 (6)
FO, weave in tail.

🌀 Tentacles (Make 8)

With Light Lavender:
Ch 45.
Starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 3 sc in each ch → 129 sc total.
Switch to Aqua Blue.
Work 1 sc in each st across (this reinforces the curl).
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

📍Curl should be tight and even, rolling naturally into a spiral with contrasting aqua edges.

📍Tip: Steam-block lightly if needed to achieve soft, smooth curls.

💙 Eyes (Crocheted Option)

Iris (Aqua Blue):
R1: MR, 6 sc (6)
R2: inc ×6 (12)
R3: sc around (12), FO.

Pupil (Black):
R1: MR, 4 sc (4), FO.

Sew the black pupil in the center of the blue iris. Add one small white stitch or French knot highlight to the upper right corner for a sparkle effect.

Alternatively, attach 12–14 mm safety eyes on the head between rounds 10–12, spaced 7 stitches apart.

📍Eyes should appear large and forward-facing, not too close together.

🩵 Eyelid Accent (Optional – Aqua Blue Outline)

To match the subtle turquoise ring around the eyes, use aqua yarn to work a surface slip stitch around each eye once it’s attached. This gives the bright “eye rim” look seen in the photo.

💕 Cheeks

With Pink:
R1: MR, 6 sc (6), FO.
Sew below the eyes, about 2 stitches apart from each mouth corner.

😄 Mouth

Using black embroidery thread or fine yarn, embroider a small upward-curving smile just below the cheeks.
📍Make sure the mouth sits in a soft “U” shape, slightly offset upward for a cute look.

🧵 Eyelashes

With black thread, embroider two curved lashes above each eye, angled outward for a happy expression.

🪡 Assembly

1️⃣ Arrange 8 tentacles in a ring and pin them to the underside of the head. Slightly overlap bases for a fuller look.
2️⃣ Sew securely in two passes — once at the base and again around outer edge for strength.
3️⃣ Insert and secure safety eyes (if using).
4️⃣ Sew cheeks and embroider mouth and lashes.
5️⃣ Adjust stuffing and shape for round symmetry.

Your amigurumi octopus is now complete — soft, squishy, and full of charm! 🐙✨ With its cheerful smile, bouncy spiral tentacles, and big bright eyes, this little sea friend will bring joy wherever it goes. Whether you display it on a nursery shelf, gift it to someone special, or keep it as your own cuddle companion, it’s sure to remind you to “Dream Big” — just like the tag beneath its happy grin. 💜💙

Happy crocheting! 🧶
